DC's community living room. We reflect the eclecticism of our nation's capital by redefining the American cafe culture.
Tryst is known for having huge lounging sofas, eclectic art on the walls, with no corporate coffee and no matching silverware. You can stop by for a quick cup on your way to work, or you can lounge all day with a great book. Our specialty coffees and menus are favorites for regulars and tourists, and we’re famous for always serving two animal crackers with each drink.
We’re right in the center of the Adams Morgan neighborhood of DC, and we’ve proudly been a part of the community since 1998.
We build meaningful connections, one animal cracker at a time.

As a Mexican photographer based in Adams Morgan, in Washington-DC, my journey with the camera has always been one of deep exploration and profound connection. My work, primarily in black and white, seeks to transcend the mere act of capturing images; it is an endeavor to document the pulsating life of streets, the unspoken stories in people's eyes, and the myriad emotions that define our existence.
My upcoming exhibition at Tryst DC, an iconic coffee shop that breathes the essence of the neighborhood, is an extension of my book, 'The ADMO Project.' This project is not just a collection of photographs; it's a narrative of the neighborhood I call home – Adams Morgan (AdMo). Here, the eclectic mix of cultures, people, and moments come alive through my lens, offering viewers a glimpse into the soul of this vibrant community.
My artistic influences – Henri Cartier-Bresson’s decisive moment, Ernst Haas’s vibrant expression, Elliott Erwitt’s wit, Sebastião Salgado’s depth, Fan Ho’s poetic compositions, and Alan Schaller’s modernist approach – resonate through my work. But beyond these influences, my vision is shaped by perpetual observer of life's intricacies. My collaboration with the talented curator and artist Mabe Guzman has further refined my perspective, infusing my work with a balance of spontaneity and thoughtfulness.
In my hands, the Leica Q2 Monochrome, M10, and MA are not just tools but extensions of my vision, helping me capture the world in its raw, unfiltered essence. This exhibition is an invitation to pause, observe, and connect with the world around us.
